Cracking the AOR exam is not everyone’s game. The AOR exam is spread over 4 days with 4 exams of 3 hours each. To clear the exam, one must secure minimum 50% marks in each subject and 60% in aggregate. Practice and Procedure of the Supreme Court
This part broadly covers the Constitution of India and the procedural functioning of the Supreme Court. One may expect questions on topics like Special Leave Petitions, matters of public interest, the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court, and other procedural laws like the Civil Procedure Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, the Limitation Act, etc. However, the main thrust remains on the procedures and powers of the Supreme Court.
Drafting & Advocacy
This includes drafting Special Leave Petitions, writs, drafting rules for executing vakalatnama, etc. One must be well versed and skilled with the nuances of various applications and petitions, which include, but are not limited to, applications related to contempt, bail, preliminaries, review petitions, etc.
This paper tests one’s knowledge of ethics and the code of conduct for lawyers in India. One must have a thorough grasp of the Advocates Act, the Supreme Court rules, the Bar Council of India rules, and other settled principles of professional ethics and advocacy.
As the name suggests, this paper includes and tests one understanding of the recent and leading judgments of the Supreme Court of India. The list of the cases is provided by the Supreme Court and is available on its website. The same can be accessed here.
